  • 2024 Chamber Business Awards Nominations

    Purpose
To recognize businesses or organizations and individuals that maintain the highest standard of excellence throughout the Superior, Douglas County, and Twin Ports communities.

    General Criteria
Any community member may nominate a business for recognition (including their own if a Chamber member), and only Chamber member businesses and employees are eligible for recognition.  (Click here to see Business Directory of Chamber Members).  In general, nominees should be those whose business practices and professional conduct contribute to a sense of cooperation within the entire business community, and which helps promote the Superior – Douglas County area as a good place to live as well as do business.  Note: “New Business of the Year Award” may go to a non-chamber member business.  Nomination Deadline:  Nominations are due no later than 12:00pm/Noon on April 10, 2024.

New Business of the Year Award

The Superior-Douglas County community has seen a significant amount of new economic development!  All businesses that opened during the calendar year prior to the awards ceremony event held in the spring automatically qualify for this award and will be contacted to request submission of their own accomplishments.  Judging for this award will be based on potential community impact, use of innovation and technology, and overall community awareness, in addition to their submission. We will be accepting nominations from new businesses that opened during the 2023 calendar year.

Outstanding Business of the Year Award

This award will go to a business that has been in operation for more than five years and is located in Superior or Douglas County.  The nomination should include a brief history of the business itself and its contribution to the community.  Specific topics that will be evaluated, and should be covered in the nomination form, for the selection of this award include:

    • Organizational performance and integrity
    • Treatment of employees
    • Community impact
    • Overall safety
    • Innovative business strategies
    • Quality of leadership

Business Professional of the Year Award

Qualified candidates for this award must either live or work in Douglas County, Wisconsin, and were located here during the entire awards year.

Please touch on the following questions: provide a short description of the person and the role they play in their organization, including the impact this person has on the day-to-day operations and customers.  How has the nominee demonstrated leadership in and out of the workplace? How have they shown professional success and career growth while maintaining professional integrity? What is the work ethic of the nominee? How do they manage the work-life balance? Are they philanthropic, how are they involved in their community? And more so, what sets this individual apart from their peers? Most importantly, how is this person an advocate for the Superior/Douglas County community?
